Prince Charles to give Meghan Markle away at royal wedding

Meghan Markle will walk to the altar on her wedding day with her future father-in-law, Prince Charles.

Kensington Palace announced Friday that the royal bride-to-be asked the heir to the British Throne to walk her down the aisle.

Charles "is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to the Royal Family in this way," the palace said.

Many believed Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, would walk the bride down the aisle on Saturday after her father Thomas announced he was unable to attend due to an illness.

It was also announced that the Duke of Edinburgh, 96-year-old Prince Phillip, will attend the royal wedding, just a few weeks after undergoing a hip replacement operation.
