PHOTOS: Instagram account shows how difficult it is to find affordable rentals in Vancouver

Trying to find an affordable and decent place to rent is a seemingly impossible task.

And the bigger the city the more difficult it is.

Vancouver is notoriously known for having ridiculously expensive rentals for even the smallest of spaces.

Wtfvanrental is an Instagram account that documents all the crazy and absurd rentals available in the Vancouver area. The account is hilarious yet disheartening all at the same time.

From tight living quarters to spaces that aren’t even considered livable, this page has it all.

It even showcased a home completely covered in black mold. And for the low price of $1,600 a month, it can be yours!

Earlier this month, the province raised the allowable rent cap to 4.5%.

B.C. landlords can choose to increase rent once annually. The maximum percentage increase allowed each year is the inflation rate plus 2%. The inflation rate, calculated using the 12-month average percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for British Columbia ending in July, is 2.5%. Therefore, the maximum allowable increase for 2019 is 4.5%.

Long story short, we may be seeing a lot more ads like ones showcased on Wtfvanrental.

Wow now couch rentals?
