Disney CEO tops list of most powerful people in entertainment

As you may have guessed, those in charge of Disney, Netflix, NBC and WarnerMedia are some of the most powerful people in the entertainment industry.

The Hollywood Reporter unveiled its annual list of the 100 Most Powerful People in Entertainment on Thursday and Disney CEO Bob Iger tops the list.

There is a good mix of actors, producers, musicians and even a couple of journalists on the list, but the top is dominated by executives.

Iger is in top spot for a number of reasons, but one of the big ones is June’s $71.3 billion acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

It’s the 68-year-old’s third straight year in the number one spot of The Hollywood Reporter’s list, leaving no doubt that he holds the power in Hollywood.

Coming in behind Iger is the pair of Reed Hastings and Ted Sarandos, who are the CEO and CCO of Netflix.

Rounding out the top three is another pair, Comcast Corp. CEO Brian Roberts and NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke.

The top non-executives on the list are Oprah Winfrey at 18, even though she is the CEO of the Oprah Winfrey Network, writer/producer Ryan Murphy at 19 and producer Jason Blum at 27.

J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg are back to back at 32 and 33 on the list, Lorne Michaels is nipping at their heels at 35 and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is the top actor at 38.
