The show, about a group of detectives taking on Brooklyn's crime was one of the several series at risk of cancellation, joining series like Lucifer and the Last Man on Earth on the chopping block.
Alas, Fox pulled an un-cool, cool, cool move and dropped the series. The Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast and fandom spread rapidly across Twitter, voicing their distaste for Fox’s decision while showing their support for the renewal of the series through #RenewB99 and #NineNine.

It was hard to ignore the mass of tweets that were plastered across the social media platform. Big names like Mark Hamill and Guillermo Del Toro joined the mob of fans voicing their disapproval.

Only two days after the cancellation, due to the widespread support of the Nine-Niners, NBC picked up the show to reproduce it for the sixth season. Fans and cast alike went absolutely berserk, pleased with the noice gesture by NBC.
Melissa Fumero, who plays Amy Santiago in the series, was one of the most vocal on Twitter during the potential cancellation and was also very vocal about her joy following NBC's choice to renew Brooklyn Nine-Nine for another year

It seems, with fans as supportive as these, Brooklyn Nine-Nine may never end up behind bars.
