Canada continues to impress in new Olympic sports.
On Sunday, it was Alex Beaulieu-Marchand conquering the men’s ski slopestyle event, winning a bronze medal.
It’s Canada’s first Olympic medal in the event, which was added to the Olympic roster at Sochi 2014.
Beaulieu-Marchand’s earned 94.20 points in his best of three runs, beating everyone but Oystein Braaten of Norway and Nick Goepper of the United States.
The Quebec City native wasn’t the only Canadian with a chance at the podium either.
British Columbia’s Teal Harle finished the competition in fifth, while Ontario’s Evan McEachern finished right behind Harle in sixth.
The bronze brings Canada’s medal total to 16 at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.
At the 2010 and 2014 games, Canada won 25 medals both times.
