<p><strong>(Original story: Sept. 18 at 12:56 pm)</strong>: Officials in British Columbia are assessing the risk of a tsunami after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Russia earlier today.</p>

<p dir="ltr">The Province&rsquo;s emergency information feed said the quake hit 255 miles southwest of Bering Island in the Pacific Ocean.</p>
