Electrical outlets sold at Home Hardwares across Canada are being recalled because they pose a fire hazard.
According to Health Canada, the recall involves three white coloured models of Electrical Devices Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) safety outlets with plates.
A total of 664,000 of the affected products were sold between 2015 to May 2025.
“The terminal screws on the product may not tighten properly, which may create an increase in temperature, posing a fire hazard,” the recall said.
Health Canada said the company has received 812 reports of screws that were faulty, stripped and unable to be tightened, one report of fire resulting in property damage but no reports of injuries.
Anyone who purchased the outlets is being told to contact the company for instructions on how to uninstall and return them to any Home Hardware store for a refund.
“The affected products have the letters "TR" stamped on the front and the letters "LGL" embossed on the back,” Health Canada said.
To identify the affected outlet, look for the item number located on the bottom left of the front of the product’s packaging and the model number is located on the bottom left of the product.
