For the second time in a little over two months, Health Canada is issuing a recall for several brands of energy drinks.
The recall was issued on Friday due to the amount of caffeine in certain drinks and labelling issues.
People are advised not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled products.
More than 30 drinks are being recalled, including popular brands like Monster, Celsius, Bang, 5 Hour and Prime. A full list of the affected products can be found here.
“The majority of the recalled products were neither manufactured nor intended for sale in Canada, and have been imported by third parties and sold in stores across Canada,” says the recall.
“Consumers may have also purchased the products online.”
The recall is part of an ongoing investigation into energy and other caffeinated drinks being imported into Canada. Several recalls have been issued since August with more products being added each time.
Health Canada says there are similar products in Canada that meet the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's requirements and are not affected by this recall.
A good way to tell is to check the caffeine content in a single serving, which has a limit of 180 mg in Canada.
Another good way to check if your product is not included in the recall is to make sure there is both English and French on the label.
Health Canada says products with only one of those languages or neither means it has not been produced for the Canadian market.
“If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, contact your healthcare provider. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased,” the recall says.
