Yet another major fast-food chain has announced that they will be eliminating plastic straws.
Subway Canada announced earlier this week that they will be eliminating their single-use plastic straws from their 3,200 stores across the country in 2019.
According to Subway, the company decided to do so in response to the United Nation’s recent campaign to eliminate major sources of marine litter by 2022.
Eliminating single-use plastic straws is not the first eco-friendly movement the restaurant has done.
They have also designed their packaging to be 100% recyclable, compostable and biodegradable as well as increased their amount of recycled material used in the paper and plastic packaging.
Now we can get our favourite sandwiches without damaging the environment!
Talk about a not so guilty, guilty pleasure.
