Thousands of gas ranges recalled in Canada over burn risk linked to ignition

Certain Frigidaire gas ranges sold in Canada are being recalled due to a burn hazard linked to delayed ignition in the oven.

Health Canada says the recall affects several models under the Frigidaire, Frigidaire Gallery and Frigidaire Professional brands sold between June 2025 and January 2026.

The issue involves the oven’s bake burner, which can ignite late and pose a risk of burns. As of March 11, the company had received three reports of incidents in Canada, including one injury. In the United States, there have been 59 reports, including 30 injuries.

Consumers are being told to immediately stop using the oven portion of the affected ranges, though the stovetop burners can still be used.

Electrolux, the manufacturer, is offering a free in-home repair, which includes installation of a new bake burner.

About 5,300 units were sold in Canada and roughly 174,800 in the United States.

Anyone with an affected model is advised to contact Electrolux to arrange repairs. Under Canadian law, recalled products cannot be resold or given away.
