The Faces of Wealth Management: Kerry Foord and Chris Warner

Kerry Foord and Chris Warner joined the Nicola Wealth team as wealth advisors in early 2022. They both possess high levels of expertise which they use to serve the Victoria area and beyond. Although their backgrounds are each unique, it is clear that they share one thing in common: their passion for people.

When Foord started her career in financial services, she had the opportunity to be a branch manager but decided to pursue an investment advisory track to be closer to people.

“I would rather work with clients and really get to know people and their families and everything that's important to them,” she explains. “You really do get connected with clients.”

Foord has over 25 years of experience in this field. She has worked mainly with small business owners, professionals and clients with high net worths. She has particular expertise in financial planning for physicians and their families, as she exclusively served them for 12 years at a previous firm.

“I really enjoy working with physicians because they spend their days helping people and are really busy with different hours,” she explains. “I’m always happy to be someone they can rely on to help with their financial matters.”

By contrast, Warner began studying journalism but became interested in stock-trading and personal finance when he was learning how to foster financial health for himself. That interest blossomed into a robust career that has included mortgage lending, personal and small business credit, insurance, and wealth management. His most recent decade of work has seen him focused exclusively on complex financial planning for high net worth and ultra high net worth families.

“Seeing clients doing well and making sure they’re successful is the best part about being a wealth advisor,” he says. “I like taking a complex financial case, running the math and breaking it down for the client; finding a useful solution that gives them confidence.”

When he was thinking about leaving his last firm, Warner was especially inspired by the commitment Nicola Wealth has to their investment philosophy and their charitable work.

“They’re a firm that’s fundamentally focused on making sure clients get the best possible results,” he says. “They care about making sure the client is happier and has more peace of mind.”

This is also why Foord wanted to work for Nicola Wealth.

“Their values align with mine and our investment strategy is so different,” she explains. “Clients have a lot more options with our investment philosophy and diversification.”
