Interior Health provided an encouraging update on the region’s only active community COVID-19 cluster.
According to the health authority, there were no new confirmed cases associated with this cluster since the last update on Friday, Feb. 19.
There have been 237 total cases since the cluster was originally declared in December, but only five are active at this time.
Of those 237 total cases, 150 have been found in people who reside or work on the mountain.
Despite the lack of new cases, IH still hasn’t declared this cluster contained.
However, barring any expected spike in cases, it’s expected that the cluster will be declared contained before the next scheduled update on Friday, March 5.
Transmission of COVID-19 in the Big White community was primarily blamed on social events and gatherings.
IH continues to remind those across the BC Interior that COVID-19 is still circulating in our communities and everyone is reminded to limit socialization to immediate household bubbles.
