If you’re charging your vacuum with a Powerextra 4000mAh V6 battery, Health Canada advises you to stop doing so immediately.
A recall notice has been published for the portable vacuum battery packs, which are sold through Amazon, because they are reportedly a fire hazard.
“As of Jan. 8, 2025, the company has received six reports of fire including reports of property damage in Canada,” the recall notice explains.
The battery manufacturer, Dongguan Jinhuihuang New Energy Technology Co. in China, claims the product is compatible with several Dyson V6 series vacuum cleaners.
However, Health Canada is quick to point out that they are not a Dyson, or even Dyson-authorized, product.
Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled product immediately and safely dispose of them according to municipal guidelines.
“Do not place them in household garbage,” Health Canada notes. “Consumers can contact Shenzhen Haiming Electronic Commerce Co. for a full refund.”
According to Health Canada, 4,446 units of the affected product were sold in Canada between August 2021 and March 2023.
