Health Canada announces recall of 110,000 cordless blinds due to choking and strangulation hazards

A popular window covering has been recalled after Health Canada determined it poses choking and strangulation hazards.

About 110,000 For Living 1’ Light Filtering Cordless Blinds products have been sold in Canada since May 1, 2021.

Anyone in possession of the blinds is urged to stop using them immediately.

“Health Canada has determined that the recalled blinds do not meet the Corded Window Coverings Regulations and pose strangulation and choking hazards,” the agency explained.

“The design of the product does not properly address the hazards of exposed operating cords, which can create loops.

“Young children may pull looped cords around their neck, or become entangled in the cords, causing a strangulation hazard. The product can also release small parts that present a choking hazard to young children.”

Health Canada also provided a guide for buying window coverings.
