Russia has threatened Lithuania after it blocked the transfer of goods by rail into the Russian territory of Kaliningrad. Kaliningrad – which was part of Germany until it was conquered and colonized by the USSR in 1945 – has no border with Russia.

The first images of police officers inside the school in Uvalde, Texas where 21 people were murdered last month have been released. Officers armed with rifles and riot shields can be seen waiting in the corridor just under an hour before the shooter was killed.

The editor-in-chief of an independent Russian newspaper has sold his Nobel Peace Prize for over $130 million. Dmitry Muratov, who was given the prestigious award for defending freedom of expression in Russia, said the money will go to help refugees displaced by the Ukraine war.

In lighter news, several thousand people have gathered at Stonehenge to watch the summer solstice in true prehistoric fashion. It's the first time since 2019 that druids, pagans and tourists have been able to congregate at the World Heritage Site to mark the longest day of the year.
