Anglers in Nova Scotia have been warned they could face prison and a fine of up to $500,000 if they throw certain fish back into the water after catching them. The Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture in the province said failing to kill smallmouth bass or chain pickerel could lead to a $100,000 fine for a first offence and $500,000 for a second offence, plus the possibility of two years behind bars.
