Another emergency department in the BC Interior has been forced to temporarily close down due to a lack of staff.
This time the unlucky residents are in 100 Mile House and the surrounding area.
Interior Health said in a bulletin that the 100 Mile House District General Hospital will close down its emergency room from 7 am till 1 pm today.
Anyone in need of emergency care has been urged to go to Williams Lake.
“People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care (i.e., chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) should always call 911 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility,” Interior Health added in its notice.
“Anyone unsure whether an emergency room visit is warranted can call HealthLink BC at 811, or visit www.HealthLinkBC.ca for non-emergency health information from nurses, dietitians and pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days per week.”
