According to the BC Highway Patrol (BCHP), a Ford Explorer and Nissan Qashqai collided head-on, while a Nissan Pathfinder was “damaged in the aftermath.”

The driver of the Ford, a 62-year-old man from Lytton, did not survive the crash.

The other four people involved in the crash escaped with no more than minor injuries.

Cpl. Michael McLaughlin is urging anyone who may have witnessed the fatal collision, or drivers who saw these vehicles in the lead-up to the crash, to contact police.

“We also ask that all drivers use extra caution on undivided highways,” McLaughlin added. “Keep your full attention on the road, stay sober, and keep your speed down. We want to avoid more of these tragedies.”

Witnesses or motorists with relevant dash cam footage that could assist this investigation are asked to call the BCHP’s Chilliwack branch at 604-702-4039.
