A man from a small village in the BC Interior is looking forward to retirement after a life-changing lottery win, and he already knows what he’ll do with the time off.
Harold H. scored himself a $500,000 Extra prize from the Lotto 6/49 draw on March 11.
The Valemount resident was at an IDA Pharmacy when he checked his ticket on the self scanner and was at a loss for words when it revealed the big win.
“I was kind of all over the place thinking, ‘Is this real?’” he recalled. “I had the cashier at the IDA double-check it for me. I was speechless!”
Harold was excited to share the news with his grandson, who he said was “flabbergasted” when he told him.
The pair will be taking the trip of a lifetime thanks to the windfall, as Harold wants to take his grandson on a motorcycle trek across Canada.
“Touring across Canada can now be a reality and my retirement is in place,” Harold explained.
While the winning ticket was checked at the IDA Pharmacy, it was purchased at the Esso gas station on Swift Creek Road in Valemount.
