BC’s Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) is advising people to give themselves extra time if they plan on travelling Highway 1 in the Fraser Canyon this weekend.
The ministry has issued a travel advisory for the Easter long weekend for the highway between Hope and the Thompson-Nicola region.

“Allow extra time for travel and expect delays to increase traffic and construction. Delays may be longer during peak travel times (from) April 6-9,” says the advisory.
Crews continue to make permanent repairs to infrastructure at six locations along Hwy 1 after the 2021 floods that damaged nearly 20 sites on this stretch of highway.
Anyone travelling this route is reminded that there are several different speed zones between Boston Bar and Lytton, which could result in delays up to 30-45 minutes.
People should also prepare for a lack of cell phone coverage, grades up to 12% and oversize and overweight vehicle restrictions, the advisory adds.
As always, MoTI reminds travellers to keep an eye out for crew members and respect signage in construction areas.
