The Southeast District Major Crime Unit has been deployed to Sparwood to investigate the death of a man at the end of the weekend.
The man was killed after being struck by a grey Toyota Tundra late Sunday night outside the lone A&W in the small southeastern BC community.
After an initial Elk Valley RCMP investigation deemed the incident “criminal in nature,” the Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SDMCU) was brought in to take over the probe.
Police shared a photo of the Toyota Tundra involved in the incident, indicating that it has been seized, but did not reveal whether a suspect had been identified or arrested.

“We are in the very early stages. We are still gathering details about what transpired,” noted S/Sgt. Jason Smart from the SDMCU.
“We are requesting that anyone who saw a 2017 Tundra, with BC license plate LV4015, being driven on Nov. 2, 2025, to please contact police.”
In addition, investigators are seeking relevant dash cam footage from the area around the Sparwood A&W on Aspen Drive from between 9-10 pm Sunday.
Anyone with information that could help advance this investigation is urged to contact the SDMCU tip line at 1-877-987-8477.
