A man was arrested and is facing charges following an alleged indecent act and assaulting a police officer.
On June 18, Lillooet RCMP received a report of a man committing an indecent act near Russell Lane, just off Main Street near a number of hotels and the Canada Post building.
Police officers attended the scene and located the man in the bushes, who was at that point clothed. He was told to leave the area.
However, when he began yelling and swearing at police, who in turn cautioned the man that he would be arrested for causing a disturbance if he did not stop yelling.
The man continued to yell and began walking into traffic, at which point he was informed he was under arrest.
As the officer approached him and attempted to gain control of the man, he turned and allegedly punched the officer in the face.
However, the officer was able to gain control of the man and restrain him until another officer arrived.
Police were able to place the man in handcuffs and transport him to the cells.
Several charges were forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service, including indecent act and assault of a police officer.
A bail hearing was conducted and a judge released the man with conditions.
