A 60-year-old Ontraio man is facing assault and mischief charges in connection to an alleged altercation at the Universal Ostrich Farm property located in Edgewood in September.
On Sept. 3, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) applied for and was granted a Warrant to Search the farm.
The RCMP were asked to attend the farm to “keep the peace and enforce the law,” a news release said.
On Sept. 22, around 6:30 am, the RCMP arrived at the farm to secure three properties as part of the search warrant.

Officers at the farm became aware of a report of an alleged altercation at a property neighboring the farm.
A suspect who was associated with an ongoing protest camp at the farm was identified and arrested.
The news release, which was issued Thursday afternoon, said a 73-year-old woman received medical attention from medics at the scene of the alleged altercation.
Police said Timothy Regan has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, and mischief.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8.
On the same day of this alleged altercation, the BC RCMP began investigating an escalation in threats of violence directed at businesses or suspected businesses associated with the planned cull of ostriches at a BC Interior farm.
In early November, the CFIA culled a large population of ostriches at the farm.
