A passenger in a pickup truck died in a crash along Hwy 97C earlier this week, police have revealed.
The crash, which occurred on Tuesday evening near Hamilton Hill, also involved a semi-truck.
Police said the semi, which was travelling east, slid off the road and into a ditch.
The pickup then collided with the semi. The passenger of the pickup died at the scene.
The driver of the semi was uninjured and is cooperating with police, the BC Highway Patrol said.
The driver of the pickup was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police said Merritt RCMP is in charge of the investigation, working alongside Highway Patrol, Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement and the Ministry of Transportation.
“Investigation has determined that the road conditions were reportedly very poor,” Highway Patrol explained.
They said no further details would be released.
