BC records 155 new COVID-19 cases and 1 additional death

Health officials are reporting that 155 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in BC over the past 24-hours.

There are now 1,513 active cases across the province, with a total of 3,713 people under active public health monitoring.

Currently, 72 individuals are hospitalized with COVID-19, down 13 patients since Wednesday, with 26 people in intensive care.

One additional COVID-19 related death has been reported over the past 24-hours.

Health officials have also declared an outbreak at the Tim Hortons in Merritt, but provided no further details.

Dr. Bonnie Henry has said that BC is administering between 9,000 and 12,000 tests per day and the test positive rate is sitting around 1.5%.

On Thursday, a new community outbreak was announced at the FedEx Depot located near Kelowna International Airport.

Three staff members have tested positive, with a total of six employees self-isolating.

Henry confirmed there is no risk for people picking up packages from the location.
