The weekend brought excitement to Kelowna as Tesla enthusiasts gathered for a special test drive event. Tesla's full lineup, including the coveted Model X, Model S, Model 3, and Model Y, was on display, offering a hands-on experience for potential buyers and fans alike.
Jim and Kayla from TeslaTalks took the opportunity to explore and test drive each model, sharing their insights and excitement about the latest features and technology.
Kayla’s dream car, the Model X, was a highlight of the event. “I had to take it for a spin,” she said. Known for its spacious design and cutting-edge technology, the Model X did not disappoint. The vehicle's panoramic glass roof provided an open, almost motorcycle-like experience. “It’s like sitting outside,” Kayla remarked, appreciating the openness and the advanced features.
The Model X also showcased its self-driving capabilities. “We were testing out full self-drive,” said Jim. “Elon, take the wheel,” they joked, highlighting their trust in Tesla's autonomous driving technology. Kayla noted, “You get more confident, and it adapts to you.”
The Model S, with its luxurious interior and advanced features, was another highlight. Jim and Kayla admired the layered center console and the walnut finish, which Kayla preferred over the white. The Model S also boasts a single-piece roof and an array of self-driving features. Jim mentioned the convenience of the car's intuitive design, including the tilt-adjustable screen that can be used by both the driver and the passenger.
Kayla was particularly impressed with the air-conditioned seats and the additional screen in front of the wheel, a feature absent in the base Model 3. “It’s like going back to a different vehicle,” she said, appreciating the blend of luxury and functionality.
Jim had the chance to drive the Model Y Performance, a vehicle known for its speed and versatility. “I made everybody in the car nauseous, including myself,” he admitted, describing the thrill of the car’s acceleration. The Model Y, with its SUV-like spaciousness and practicality, is ideal for families. “It’s the vehicle that most people will choose with a family,” said Jim, noting its affordable price and utility.
The Model Y also has various driving modes, including the impressive Insanity Mode. Despite its power, the Model Y is designed for everyday use, offering features like dog mode, which keeps the car's interior temperature constant without draining the battery.
The Model 3 remains one of Tesla's most popular models. Kayla and Jim both drive the rear-wheel-drive version but tested the all-wheel-drive model during the event. They noted the enhanced lighting, quieter interior, and faster acceleration of the dual-motor version.
With prices starting at $49,990 for the all-wheel-drive model, the Model 3 offers a balance of performance and affordability. Kayla mentioned the Model 3’s eligibility for the BC rebate, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers.
Throughout their test drives, Jim and Kayla highlighted several innovative features that set Tesla apart. The vehicles’ intuitive design, advanced self-driving capabilities, and luxurious interiors make them stand out in the electric vehicle market. The Model X’s automatic doors, the Model S’s adjustable screen, and the Model Y’s versatile seating options are just a few examples of Tesla’s commitment to innovation.
Kayla summed up the experience by expressing her continued love for Tesla vehicles, especially the Model X. “It’s still my dream car,” she said, excitedly planning for it in her retirement. Jim echoed her sentiments, appreciating the practical and luxurious aspects of Tesla’s lineup.
