Penticton resident and esteemed poet Shane Koyczan will showcase his latest work during a virtual performance on Friday, March 12.
Presented by UBC's Performing Arts' "Dot Com" series, the production will dive into Koyczan's take on the COVID-19 pandemic.
"As the finish line for lockdown continues to move further away, the challenges in maintaining our mental health grow," reads the event description.
"We’re left to reflect on our wounded world and cling to memories in the vacuum of isolation. Shane Koyczan explores the amplified despair of the times we find ourselves in, and searches for the missing needle of the compass that’s left us feeling lost.
Considered as Canada's premier spoken word artist, Koyczan graduated from Okanagan College’s Penticton Campus in 1998 before rising to international fame during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics where he performed his poem “We Are More” to millions of viewers.
