It’s been an exciting morning for Kings of Leon fans.
The popular rock band from Nashville announced their upcoming ninth studio album, Can We Please Have Fun, will come out on May 10, and dropped the lead single “Mustang.”
And as it often does, the new music will come with a large tour later this year, which will include a stop in British Columbia.
With Phantogram joining as an opening act, Kings of Leon will play Rogers Arena in Vancouver on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024.
They will also play shows in Seattle on Aug. 29, Edmonton on Sept. 2 and Calgary on Sept. 3, for any BC fans who are unable to make the Vancouver show.
The band, composed of brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill along with cousin Matthew Followill, says the new album is a document of one of this era’s great rock and roll bands cutting loose and having some fun.
They say it’s a new side of Kings of Leon, as the band harkens back to their gritty origins while simultaneously finding new gears.
Caleb called it the most enjoyable record he’s ever been a part of, while Nathan said it felt like they allowed themselves to be “musically vulnerable.”
“When you have a band, there’s a bond like no other, and when you have family, you have a bond like no other,” he added.
“We have both of those things. I thought, if we put all our energy toward something, who is gonna stop us? Who can stop us except us?”
General ticket sales for the Kings of Leon 2024 tour will go on sale at 10 am on Friday, March 1, through Ticketmaster.
There are presale opportunities beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 28, which you can register for through this link until 11 pm PT on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
