The forecast may not be overly favourable this weekend, but that won't stop the 2023 drive-in season from beginning.
It's opening day for the Starlight Drive-In Theatre near Enderby and the first weekend of the year features doubleheaders tonight and Saturday.
First up will be Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, which will begin both nights at 8:30 pm. It will be followed by the drive-in’s number one movie from the summer of 2022, Top Gun Maverick. The concession opens at 7 pm.
Tickets are now available for both days through the Starlight website and they will set you back $10 per person with price breaks if you have five or more in the vehicle.
The drive-in says the season will open with limited attendance this weekend, so be sure to secure your tickets soon if you want to be in attendance.
The iconic drive-in theatre is located just south of Enderby, a central location for movie fans all throughout the Thompson-Okanagan.
It's a 20-30 minute drive for patrons from Vernon, Salmon Arm and Sicamous, a 55 minute drive for Kelowna residents, 85 minutes from Kamloops and a little longer than that from Penticton.
For those who have yet to experience the drive-in, the movie audio is broadcasted via FM radio.
“If you're concerned about your battery or if you are sitting outside or in the back of your truck, you may want to bring a portable battery powered boombox or FM radio,” the drive-in advises.
