Don’t bother buying that chocolate advent calendar this holiday season, it’s time to up your game a little bit.
I’m kidding, of course, as you should still buy a chocolate advent calendar (maybe two), but that doesn’t mean you can’t still diversify your portfolio.
Because I’m talking about craft beer advent calendars this week and a pair that are available for you to buy at BC Liquor Stores across the province.
The first of these advent calendars, dubbed It’s The Most Wonderful Time For A Beer, is from Parallel 49 Brewing.
It features 24 original beers from the Vancouver brewery with a healthy variety of styles, flavours and strengths.
Now, I can’t tell you what to expect from this mysterious advent calendar because I simply don’t know, but I have bought mine and am very excited to crack it open for the first time on Dec. 1.
As mentioned before, you’ll be able to find the Parallel 49 advent calendar in BC Liquor Stores, but you should also be able to track it down at private stores with a focus on craft beer.
The other advent calendar available this holiday season is from another Vancouver brewery in Red Truck Company and it’s exclusively being sold at BC Liquor Stores.
There are a couple of significant differences between the two.
For one, the Parallel 49 advent calendar is stocked full of 355 ml cans, but the one from Red Truck has 473 ml tall cans.
While that means more beer is in the Red Truck box, there isn’t as much variety because you’ll be getting three each of eight unique beer styles.
That means the element of surprise will pretty much be over after eight days, but it also means you can look forward to certain beers again if you really enjoyed them the first time.
Picking up one of these advent calendars is a great way to spice up your December and try some new BC-made craft beers.
And if you’re feeling extra spicy, you can pick up both advent calendars next time you drop by a BC Liquor Store! I won’t tell anybody…
