We head back to one of my favourite beer spots in the province – Port Moody’s Brewers Row – for this weekend’s column.
Specifically, an exciting winter offering from Twin Sails Brewing has caught my eye.
Hot Laps is the brewery’s signature winter ale and it’s guaranteed to warm you up from the inside on even the coldest January day.

It’s brewed with a combination of strong malts that are complemented by notes of vanilla, cinnamon and dried orange peels.
The brewery calls it a “nod to winter’s distinctive flavours,” with the aroma of spiced pastries and citrus leading into a hint of nuttiness as it hits your lips.
“The palate is met with a smooth texture marked by vanilla, a touch of cinnamon and the slight bittersweet of orange, resulting in a memorable finish that evokes the flavour of winter,” Twin Sails explains.

Hot Laps comes in at 5.6% ABV (alcohol by volume) with 11 IBU (international bitterness units), and it’s now available at over 70 BC Liquor Stores across the province.
That includes many spots in the BC Interior, but sadly for our Kelowna and Penticton readers it’s not available at the government-run stores in either city.
For most Okanagan craft beer drinkers, you’ll have to keep an eye out at your favourite private stores to find this tasty winter ale.
