(Update - 3:20 pm): The City of Kamloops has confirmed that Waterfront Park is now reopened.
The closure originally came due to a mother bear and her cubs in the area.
Residents are advised to be cautious and stay a good distance away from wildlife.
Any residents who see wildlife in the city is urged to contact the BC Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-7277.
(Original - August 21st): Waterfront Park east of downtown Kamloops has been temporarily closed after a mother bear and her cub were spotted.

The public is being asked to avoid the area, including either side the east end of Riverside Park and Pioneer Park.
Conservation Officers and Bylaw enforcement are currently on-site the park monitoring the bear activity.
Residents in the area are also being asked to ensure all garbage is picked up and properly disposed of.
Between April 1 and Nov. 30, the "Bear Smart Bylaw" is in effect meaning infractions may result in a $100 fine.
