'High-risk' man arrested in Barriere on Tuesday

Mounties in the NorthThompson region say they arrested a “high risk” male wanted on several outstanding warrants.

A news release says officers responded to a residence on Creek Side Road in Barriere on Tuesday.

A 58-year-old man was arrested without incident and no risk to the public.

Although the arrest went smoothly, the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (SED ERT) was called in to support officers due to the man’s “high risk” nature.

He remains in custody and is due in court on Wednesday.

No other details are expected form police at this time because the investigation is ongoing.
