Famous Ukrainian choir coming to Kelowna for 'solidarity' concert

The famous Dnipro Choir is coming down from Edmonton to perform in Kelowna this weekend.

Also performing at St. Michael and All Angels Cathedral on Saturday will be Kelowna’s own Dolyna Ukrainian Dancers and the Gilea Children’s Ensemble.

The show is part of Canada’s Ukrainian Heritage Month.

Kate Woodman, from the Okanagan 4 Ukraine group, said the concert will be “a celebration of heritage and an act of solidarity.”

She added: “While Russia escalates its genocidal war, it is important we remember the price paid by Ukrainians holding the front line of freedom and democracy in Europe.”

The group said it is holding a “limited number of tickets” for Ukrainian families in Kelowna, which will be given out for free. It can be reached at this email address.

The concert is set to begin at 2 pm.

All proceeds will support “mental health and trauma recovery for war-affected Ukrainians—locally and abroad,” according to the organizers.

Tickets can be obtained here.
