The transformation of Rutland Centennial Park is nearly complete.
On Wednesday, Aug. 12, the fourth and final phase of construction at the central Rutland park will begin.
The final improvements will include an event stage, basketball court, ultimate frisbee field, junior soccer field, ping pong tables, landscaping and a new washroom.
Phase 4, which will cost $3.3 million, is anticipated to be completed in the fall.
“The City acquired the previously undeveloped 2.5-hectare park space next to Rutland Centennial Hall in 2015, and enhancements and additions at Rutland Centennial Park have been underway since 2016,” explains a City of Kelowna release.
“Phases 1-3 included the construction of a sports field, accessible playground, pathways and a multicultural garden.”
Residents can continue to enjoy the park while construction is underway, but access will be available at the Rutland Road entrance rather than the McIntosh Road entrance.
