Grammy-nominated, Juno-winning Glass Tiger announces Kelowna show

Kelowna music fans will be able to close out March 2025 with a fun taste of the 1980s.

After an overwhelming response to their fall 2024 tour, Glass Tiger has announced another coast-to-coast run in March and April 2025.

Their 18-date spring tour includes a trio of shows in British Columbia, starting in Victoria before heading to Coquitlam and finally Kelowna on Monday, March 31.

They’ll be playing at the Kelowna Community Theatre.

Formed in Newmarket, Ont., in 1983, Glass Tiger burst onto the scene in the 80s and enjoyed near-instant success with their debut album The Thin Red Line.

The record won Album of the Year at the 1986 Juno Awards, with lead single “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone)” winning Single of the Year and the band winning Most Promising Group of the Year.

Both “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone)” and “Someday,” another single from the album, had significant commercial success, reaching the top 10 in the US charts.

While they wouldn’t replicate that success south of the border again, Glass Tiger’s second and third albums produced six more top 10 hits in Canada.

They added another two Junos in 1987, defending their Single of the Year title with “Someday” and also winning Canadian Entertainer of the Year.

Glass Tiger was even nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys in 1987, but came up short to Bruce Hornsby & The Range.

While the band has been around since 1983, they took a 10-year hiatus between 1993-2003 before reuniting with Chris McNeil taking over for Michael Hanson on the drums.

In September 2023, Glass Tiger was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame.

Tickets to see Glass Tiger in Kelowna will go on sale at 10 am on Friday, Sept. 27, with a local presale (password: island) beginning 24 hours prior.
