Kelowna man thinking retirement and more time with kids after $1M lotto win

It’s hard to think of a better Christmas present.

Edward M. was enjoying the holiday season at his Kelowna home when he checked his tickets from the Dec. 23 Lotto Max draw on the BCLC’s Lotto! app.

“I didn’t believe it,” Edward said of the moment he discovered he had won $1 million.

He first shared the news with his kids and their reactions were a mix of tears and “pure excitement” as they shared his disbelief.

Edward says the life-changing windfall will be celebrated with a “family shindig” and he’s looking forward to sharing the win with his children.

“This win just means more time with my kids and being able to financially be there for them if they need it,” he explained. “Retiring is also something I will be able to do now.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Walmart on Banks Road in Kelowna.
