(Original story: July 6 @ 11:22 am): A man has been arrested after a bear macing incident in Lake Country.

Mounties said the victim had seen a car driving erratically in the area on the evening of July 4 and decided to follow it.

The car being followed then stopped on Reiswig Road, police said, before a man got out, ran over to the pursuing vehicle and sprayed mace into the open passenger window.

The victim called the RCMP for help at 10:30 pm.

Though the suspect fled the scene after spraying the victim, a 23-year-old from Lake Country has now been arrested.

He has been released on conditions for a future court date.

The search for a second man believed to have been involved continues.

“This case highlights the importance of calling police if you think there’s a danger to your community,” said Cpl Jocelyn Noseworthy.

“You never know who you’re dealing with or the potential danger you may face.”
