Small but mighty group of Kelowna swimmers place 4th amongst 50 teams

A small but mighty group of Kelowna swimmers competed against 49 other teams last week.

Fifteen swimmers from the Kelowna Aquajets (KAJ) Swim Club placed fourth overall at the Speedo Western Canadian Championships.

Topping the team was Aiden Kirk, who swam to a pair of gold medals in the 200 fly and 400 free, a silver medal in the 1,500 free and a bronze medal in the 200 free.

Daniil Savelev placed first in the 400 free and second in the 200 free, while Ruby Kehler placed third in both the 200 and 400 free.

Abigail Jerome swam to a silver spot in the 50 free.

In both the 50 and 100 fly for Open Men’s, Paul Neupert broke the club records and swam to a silver spot in the 100 fly.

Earning bronze in the 200 breast was Kodi Wiman, and Jared Moore took the third spot in the 50 free.

Other swimmers that made finals were Sebastian Cudmore, Alex McDonald, Juliet Nicholson, Dakota Wiman, Emilie Golinowski and Alexa Pauletto.

The Men’s 4x100 free relay team made the podium, with Paul Neupert, Alex McDonald, Daniil Savelev and Jared Moore swimming to bronze.

In the Women's 4x100 Medley, Teagan Murray, Kodi Wiman, Dakota Wiman and Abigail Jerome also swam to a bronze finish.

Coming up for KAJ is the Kelowna Gorman Bros. Spring Jamboree, Vernon Invitational, Kamloops Pratt and a meet in Calgary.
