Another successful year is in the books for the Swing for a Cause charity golf tournament.
Held at Kelowna Golf and Country Club on Sept. 20, the 11th annual edition of the event saw $68,000 raised for the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign.
“We are so incredibly grateful that we were able to execute a modified tournament in compliance with the current Provincial Health orders and raise much needed funds for the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign,” said Rhonda Zakala, the YMCA Okanagan’s VP of fund development.
“We can continue our charitable work in supporting our community's most vulnerable and those who have suffered even greater financial hardship due to the crisis.”
There were 120 golfers that enjoyed the sunny weather and a day on the link, which included 18 holes, food, drinks and plenty of contests and prizing on the course.
Funds were raised through sponsorships, prize donations, a raffle for 100 bottles of VQA award-winning wines, an online auction and part of the golfers’ entry fee.
“We are so appreciative of the board and staff at the KGCC for working with our committee to enable this event to come to fruition,” said Dr. John Weisbeck and Alli McNeil, co-chairs at YMCA Okanagan.
“We are honoured to be able to raise much-needed funds despite the many hurdles and challenges this year and want to thank everyone for their kindness and support of important local Y programs. See you all in 2022!”
