Bear spray threat prompts hold and secure protocol at Okanagan school

Police continue to investigate a threat against a group of students at Charles Bloom Secondary School.

School administration reported the threat to the RCMP around 10 am today, which prompted the activation of a hold and secure protocol.

According to police, the threat involving bear spray was directed at a group of students at the high school.

“To ensure safety of the students, the school was placed under a hold and secure while police responded and conducted their investigation,” explained an RCMP release.

“A thorough assessment of the situation was completed and it has been determined the threat was not credible and there is no immediate risk to the school or students at this time.”

School administration lifted the hold and secure, and normal activities resumed at Charles Bloom Secondary this afternoon.

No arrests have been made.
