Bored waiting for a friend, Okanagan man wins $630K playing online slots

If Joshuah Haymond’s friend was on time, the Vernon resident may not have secured a life-changing online slots win.

Fortunately for Haymond, his pal was not on time on May 3, which allowed him the opportunity to open PlayNow’s online casino and try his luck at the Snake Rattle & Roll slots game.

He ended up winning $630,000.

“My friend was running late, so I decided to play the game on PlayNow,” he recalled. “My first thought was, ‘What the heck just happened?’ I was so excited!”

After winning the jackpot at the start of May, Haymond kept the exciting news to himself until he claimed the prize from the BCLC.

“I still haven’t told my girlfriend,” he admitted. “I wanted to make sure it was real before I told her.”

Now that he’s confirmed the win was real and the money is in his bank account, Haymond plans to celebrate the win over a fancy dinner and will be doing a few home renovations as well.
