Homicide investigation launched after body found inside Okanagan home

The discovery of a body inside a Vernon home is being investigated as a homicide.

Police responded to a report of a disturbance at the residence in the 2100 block of 32nd Street, across the street from Vernon Jubilee Hospital, around 3:15 am on Thursday.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found one person dead inside the home.

Cst. Chris Terleski says the RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit has “deemed the death suspicious,” which has resulted in a homicide investigation being launched.

However, he notes that all indications point to this being an isolated incident with “no known risk to the public.”

Three people were taken into custody at the scene, but they have all since been released pending further investigation.

“Our Serious Crimes Unit, with the assistance of RCMP Forensic Identification Services, are continuing to collect evidence at the scene in support of the ongoing investigation,” said Terleski.

The victim’s identity is not being released and police said no further information is available at this time.
