Insta-worthy Okanagan sunflower festival kicks off today

After being cancelled due to drought in 2023, the Bloom Sunflower Festival is set to make a triumphant return over the next two weeks.

Starting Sunday, the showcase of vibrant sunflowers will be open to the public for a perfect early-fall adventure.

The window to see the spectacle is small, however, as the Bloom Sunflower Festival will wrap up on Sunday, Oct. 6.

The festival is blooming at a new location this year, a four-acre field just outside of Armstrong at 4289 Salmon River Rd.

It doesn’t just have to be a walk either, as the festival has a U-Pick option that allows visitors to fit as many stems as they can into their bucket.

There are also several special events planned over the two weeks, which you can learn more about on the Bloom website.

Discounted tickets are now available, through the website as well, and those tickets will be full-priced if you decide to buy at the gate.

The Bloom Sunflower Festival will be open Mondays through Wednesdays from noon until 7 pm and Thursdays through Sundays from 9 am until 7 pm.

There’s also a magic hour option for early risers, Thursdays through Sundays starting at 6 am.

And for those wondering if they can bring their dog along for the adventure, you absolutely can! Bloom Sunflower Festival is pet-friendly as long as they’re leashed and you pick up after them.
