The BC government has announced the arrival of a new urgent and primary care centre in Vernon.
According to BC Health Minister Adrian Dix, the facility will provide a health care option for those without a family physician or those struggling to book an appointment sooner than later.
An Urgent and Primary Care Centre is now open in #VernonBC. With a team of health-care professionals, these centres can help with non-life-threatening conditions while working to connect people with regular primary care providers. The new centre will also help keep non-emergency cases out of the increasingly crowded emergency room at Vernon Jubilee.
While the facility is currently operating out of the Vernon Downtown Primary Care Clinic, it is scheduled to move to a new permanent location at 3105 28th Avenue next spring.
Services are available seven days a week, including evenings and weekends, on either a drop-in basis or through a scheduled appointment.
According to Health Link BC, another urgent and primary care centre is expected to open soon in Kelowna.
