A Kelowna man is in custody after a lengthy foot chase with North Okanagan RCMP.
A suspicious occurrence led officers to a residence in the 11300 block of Westside Road shortly before 11 a.m. on Dec. 10.
That’s where they were met at the front door by Cameron Fox, who claimed he was meeting a friend at the property, but the story didn’t add up.
He was detained for further investigation, which led officers to another property of interest on Westside Road where Fox claimed his vehicle was parked.
When they found the vehicle, they learned the truck was stolen, but the suspect fled on foot.
Multiple officers chased Fox through the Desert Cove community, the Spallumcheen Golf Course and into another nearby residential community.
“It was the responding officer’s intuition in this case that lead him to an area where further stolen property was located,” said Cst. Kelly Brett.
“After realizing his story just wasn’t adding up, the suspect male fled from the officer which activated a multi-unit response, including the police service dog.”
Fox was eventually found hiding in bushes in the Golfview Place area and he was taken into custody.
He’s been charged with break and enter, escape lawful custody and possession of stolen property.
He was remanded in custody and appeared in court on Wednesday.
