The RCMP is investigating a stabbing that happened at a graduation party in the North Okanagan over the weekend.
Mounties were called to a property on Mackie Drive in Coldstream around 1 am Sunday after receiving a report of the stabbing at a “large gathering.”
When they arrived, they learned that the 15-year-old victim had already been transported to hospital and an 18-year-old suspect had driven away from the scene.
“From the investigation, the incident is believed to have started out as an argument between the suspect and victim,” explained an RCMP release.
“It then escalated into a physical confrontation which led to the suspect allegedly stabbing the victim, who was seriously injured as a result.”
Officers managed to locate and arrest the suspect a short time later. They were arrested without incident and later released from custody with conditions and a future court date.
The investigation is ongoing and the RCMP is looking to speak with any additional witnesses who have not yet spoken with police.
Anyone with information that could advance the probe is urged to contact the North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171 and quote file 2025-9901.
