Province to fund project linking Predator Hill community to Okanagan Rail Trail

A 1.3-kilometre long multi-use trail will soon connect the Predator Ridge community, including Sparkling Hill, with the Okanagan Rail Trail.

The Regional District of north Okanagan announced today that it has received $210,000 from the Government of BC’s Community Economic Recovery Infrastructure Program.

It will allow for the construction of the multi-use trail, which will include a safe crossing under Hwy 97 between Bailey Road and the Kal/Crystal Waters Trail.

RDNO Director Akbal Mund called this project a “key first step” in connecting the Okanagan Rail Trail to the Predator Ridge community and their associated trail networks.

"COVID-19 has highlighted the importance of our outdoor recreation amenities,” Mund explained.

“Our trails are busier than ever, and investing in these types of trail connections will not only provide value to local residents but to visitors of our community when we can begin reopening."

Trail design and permitting work will begin immediately, but construction won’t commence until later this year.
