RCMP continue to seek information about 2020 North Okanagan homicide

The RCMP are still seeking answers and information five years after a woman’s remains were found in a burned out car on Westside Road.

On Sept. 20, 2020, at 5:14 am, the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP received a report of a vehicle fire on Louis Estates Road.

After the fire was extinguished, the RCMP found human remains in the gray 2014 Nissan Rogue.

Erin Chelsea Borgford, who was 27 at the time and living in Whitehorse at the time of her death, was identified as the victim.

“Erin was living in Whitehorse and was believed to be driving from the Lower Mainland back to Whitehorse at the time of her death,” says Cpl. Brett Urano BC RCMP spokesperson.

“Our investigation is on-going, and we are needing the public’s help to solve this homicide.”

Cpl. Urano said the Southeast District Major Crime Unit is asking anyone who interacted with her in the days before her death or has any information about why she was in the North Okanagan to call the info line at 1-877-987-8477.
