Mounties in the North Okanagan are investigating after several items were stolen from a hotel room over the BC Day long weekend.
An RCMP release says that the North Okanagan detachment was called around 11:20 pm on Monday, Aug. 3, by a guest staying at the Best Western hotel at 5350 Anderson Way in Vernon.
“Over the August long weekend, many visitors travelled to the Okanagan to enjoy summer activities and all the area has to offer,” the release noted. “Unfortunately, one traveller left frustrated and disappointed after becoming a victim of theft.”
The traveller told police that they were away from the hotel for the day and returned to discover that their electronic key card did not function properly.
After getting the issue sorted with the front desk, they gained entry to their hotel room and discovered that a number of items, including electronics and cash, were missing.
“Video surveillance from the hotel shows two people, a man and a woman, exiting the room in question,” said Cpl. Tania Finn. “Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the two suspects.”
